This may be THE MOST EXCLUSIVE Playboy 45th Anniversary Bunny Joy figurine in existence - next to the one that used to be on Hugh Hefner’s bedroom fireplace mantle. (see my photo gallery)

This includes all the original packaging + COA that all collectible 45th Anniversary Playboy Bunny Joy figurines have, AND SO MUCH MORE!!
I’ve been a Professional Doll Artist for about 20 years now. My recreated doll & figurine products have sold from hundreds to thousands of dollars, based on time, costs & level of difficulty to complete.
I repaint the faces to look more realistic & more like the original (celebrity) model’s face. And I’ve also done complete reroots (replaced hair) + outfits + jewelry … I’ll be listing some of those in the future.
But I’ve never done a complete recreation of a cast figurine like this one. I’m glad I had the experience, & I won’t be doing it again. I had (WAY!) underestimated the time, expense & difficulty required to do her justice.
I worked on her over a period of years, learning airbrush techniques, hand painting tiny details in hard-to-reach places, as well as upgrading the original painted-on pantyhose to REAL pantyhose.
Like all 45th Anniversary Joy figurines, she was originally wearing a red costume, ears & shoes.
I’ve sold a couple of OOAK Bunny Joy figurines with facial repaints in the past for $800.00 each. Every time I recreate /upgrade a collectible figurine like this (especially those that have ugly face paint and/or don’t look like the original model), I “up the ante”; challenging myself to make the next one I make BETTER than the previous one.
During the recreation process, I saw a video of Hugh Hefner giving a tour of the Playboy Mansion; explaining the origin of many of his collectibles on display.
That's when I saw the only Bunny Joy figurine I've ever seen wearing a BLACK costume - on Hef’s bedroom fireplace mantle.
That was a couple of years ago. That’s when I decided that I wasn’t going to just repaint her face, I was going to upgrade her to a classic black bunny costume. (and I didn't stop there...)
The process was far more challenging than I had imagined (probably because I’m a perfectionist). As I finished one part (costume, hair, face paint, whatever), I could see the difference in the new (high end Golden brand) paint quality next to the factory paint. So I’d carefully mask off the new paint after it was fully cured, & strip, sand, & repaint the next area … until I had re-done her completely head to toe.
My main photo shows one of the “before/during” pics next to the “after/finished” product pic. There’s not enough space to show more of the process. Better to use that space so you can see ALL YOU’LL GET!
I was going to put real human hair over the molded factory hair, but … the time & expense of doing that would have at least doubled the price of the completely redone figurine. (somebody stop me! lol!)
And she looks FABULOUS just the way she is.
FYI: I was a Playboy Bunny in the 1970's. In 2000, I became an member & discovered that vintage Playboy Bunny & Club items were still a thing. And I still owned some of my "souvenirs". So I started my business: buying, selling, researching & collecting Playboy Club & Playboy Bunny collectibles.
My point? If I haven't seen one before, they MUST be RARE ... and I suppose that "anyone" could paint a red costume black .. but, as I said, this includes SO MUCH MORE...
