Brand new factory sealed dvd filmed in glorious Black & White. If this movie sounds familiar, it's because it was remade in 1988 for TV in color. This film has gained almost legendary status as one of gimmicky director William Castle's finest achievments among horror buffs. Some theatres had seat belts installed to keep scared patrons in place.
Kit & Libby are two bored teens left alone at home to baby-sit. To pass the time, they begin making prank phone calls to names chosen randomly from the phone book. At first they pretend to be girlfriends and play harmless pranks, but things turn nasty when they call a man named Steve Marak and utter the line, "I SAW WHAT YOU DID, and I know who you are".
Unfortunately, Steve has just stabbed his wife to death in the shower, and the girls aren't to swift about covering their tracks. Top-billed Joan Crawford, wearing a necklace that Cleopatra would be proud of, is the neighbour with a hopeless crush on the murderous Steve. It also climaxes in a nice bit of pre-Argento glass-shattering that really seems strong for a 1965 film aimed at adolescents.
