About the Author

Author Ellie Crowe was born in South Africa and has lived in Australia, New Guinea, and California. She now resides in Hawaii with her husband, William. They have three children: Juliet, Caroline and Adam. She loves exploring new places and reading, writing and teaching English Literature. Her love for children's literature was renewed when teaching English to Japanese, Chinese and Korean children in Hawaii. Illustrator Belinda Leigh graduated with honors from the University of Missouri as a social worker. One year later she began to paint without having any training. Painting was part-time until 1995, when a mastectomy motivated her to make positive choices in her life, one of which was to make art her full-time pursuit. Today her art is collected worldwide. The joy and wonder of Maui's diverse natural beauty excite and inspire her to varied subjects and new heights.
