Measures 1-3/8" diameter, yellow on red, "MINNESOTA UNCOMMITTED KENNEDY '80" pinback, union bug on edge with legend "MINN. COMM. FOR DEMOCRATIC ALTERNATIVE."

A couple of pinpoint marks (above the "d" in "Kennedy"), plus a scratch on the edge below the "MI" in "COMMITTED", plus another scratch on the edge near the "K", plus a scratch on the edge above the "E" in "MINNESOTA," plus another scratch on the edge above the "O" in "MINNESOTA" (all these edge scratches are very minor, the longest below the "MI" being 1/8").  Obverse side is shiny, without blemishes.

A very rare and unusual pinback from the 1980 Presidential primary campaign in Minnesota.  While the regular Democratic Party in Minnesota was organized to re-elect President Jimmy Carter, a corps of rebellious "young turks" (myself included) were bent on entering Senator Ted Kennedy's name as a candidate.  I sense that these pins were created and distributed before Ted had announced his candidacy, and that these were worn at the precinct caucuses in Minnesota in 1980.
