Ludwig Hohlwein Poster:
Gerasch Druck

Waren Schmuck

1926; Druck Emil Gerasch, GMBH, Leipzig

Original 1926 lithographic poster by the early master of German poster art, Ludwig Hohlwein (1874 - 1949). This one is entitled "Gerasch Druck" (Noise Pressure)  and features a geometric figure distributing leaflets above the black silhouette of a large industrial plant with smoking chimneys. I believe it is an advertising poster for Gerasch printers in Leipzig. Not sure what the "Waren Schmuck" refers to as it translates to "Jewelry Wares".

Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, Hohlwein first studied for a career in architecture but by 1906 had turned to commercial art and poster design. Today original Hohlwein poster art is highly collectible and much sought after.

11.75" x 8.75". Vibrant colors.
