Description
Offered here is this Amazing Antique Spinet Desk. It is made of solid wood, although I am not sure of the type of wood. It has some sections that look crosscut, other sections are burled, and the entire piece has a gorgeous finish and beautifully detailed grain. I am unsure of the age of the desk but would guess that it dates to the 19th Century. It is lockable, and has a key with it, although the key is not the original one. The desk has a writing surface that manually slides out for use, and in for storage when the desk is closed. It has a box compartment on each end that both have sliding lids, and other compartments inside as well as drawers. There are tiny pin holes at the back of the desktop, like there was once some type of trim piece there that is now gone. These holes are barely visible. The little decorative knob at the bottom in the center of the spacer supports is not original to the piece but adds a nice decorative touch. The desk is in amazing condition for such an old piece. There are some light surface scratches and dings on it in a few spots, but no major damage, and the finish is gorgeous. The desk has one tiny little nick in the trim wood on the back side. This is pictured in the photos. The desk drawers are joined with what I believe are rabbit joints. The desk is 36.5” tall, 42” wide including the decorative trim, 40” wide across the top, 19.75” deep at the trim, 18” deep at the top, 20” deep at the legs, and the writing surface is at about 29.5” high. This is an amazing, beautiful antique Spinet Desk. It would be a gorgeous addition to any antique furniture collection and is completely functional as well.
